Rowlands Castle dad takes on 200km static bike challenge

A village shop manager spent ten hours on a static bike beside his own shelves, cycling 200km without leaving the building, to raise money for CASK Research. Every donation was matched by an anonymous supporter, doubling the impact of every contribution.

George Hall, manager of Londis Rowlands Castle, started pedalling at 5am on Saturday 5 September and stopped at 3pm.

George said: "I wanted to challenge myself this year, and after previously supporting CASK Research through ticket sales at some of their events, I’ve seen first-hand how close this cause is to home. With young children of my own, I felt compelled to do something more and help in whatever way I could. Taking on a 200km indoor bike ride seemed like the perfect way to push myself while raising money and awareness for such an important cause."

Training has shown him the hardest part may not be his legs. Ten hours on a bike that goes nowhere was as much a test of patience as of fitness.

George raised over £3000, giving an incredible total of £6000+ due to the fund matching.
