Hold an event

Want to help make a difference to children and adults with CASK disorders? Join our team of inspirational fundraisers. Money is sadly everything in the world of research — please help us make the impossible possible.

Hold an event for CASK

Here at CASK Research UK we recognise the challenges of every day for our families. We know many want to help, so we aim to make it achievable for every family, no matter their financial and personal circumstances.

Download our fundraising PDF for step-by-step guidance on all our fundraising ideas. We can provide you with to-do lists, check lists, promotional material and (in certain circumstances) financial support.

Don't know where to start?

  1. Decide how much time and effort you are willing to give.
  2. Choose a fundraising idea based on its difficulty rating.
  3. Contact us so we can provide promotional materials (posters, banners, leaflets), information leaflets if you are holding an event or stall, and publicity on our social media platforms.

Fundraising ideas

Coffee morning

Coffee morning

Difficulty 3

Invite friends and family to your house for coffee, cake and socialising. A raffle adds to the fun and helps raise extra funds. You could even invite someone to sell their wares at your event and take a percentage of their profit.

Clothes sale

Difficulty 6

Ask your friends to donate their second-hand clothes and have a fun evening/day selling them on. Make an evening of it with bubbles and music — or if you have a little one, sell your unwanted baby clothes and toys.

Name the…

Difficulty 1

Whatever it is you choose, hold a simple guessing game at work, at your village fete, your school fair or at an after-school group or evening class. Charge per entry; provide a percentage of the money raised as a prize or try to get one donated.

Living Advent Trail

Living Advent Trail

Difficulty 4

Imagine an advent calendar brought to life in your village or town. In December a new house unveils its window — lit up and decorated specifically for this fundraiser — every day until Christmas Day. Sell maps showing where the houses are, or ask for donations. Create a Facebook page to promote it and show off the beautiful windows.

Mufti day

Difficulty 1

Ask your child's school if they would think about holding a non-uniform day for the charity. Download our Fast Facts sheet and send it to them so they can understand the impact their fundraiser will have. Most schools only hold a few non-uniform days a year, decided well in advance.

Bingo / quiz night

Bingo / quiz night

Difficulty 7

A fun and relatively straightforward way to raise between £1,000–£2,000. Hire a local venue, charge for entry and ensure you have great raffle prizes. Selling alcohol and nibbles increases profits hugely — and a hilarious compère makes for a night full of laughter.

Get crafting

Difficulty 3–5

If you're crafty, sell your wares (always ask for a minimum donation rather than a set price) or invite your friends to learn your skills for a donation and a fun evening or afternoon.

Raffle stall

Raffle stall

Difficulty 3

Write to local or national companies (we can provide you with a template) requesting a donation for a raffle prize. Once you have hit the jackpot with some — or just one — incredible prizes, rent a stall at a village or school fair. Having our Fast Facts pamphlet and a banner will also increase awareness of CASK diseases.

Get baking

Difficulty 2

Who doesn't like cake? Take something yummy into the office, evening class or school and ask for a donation per slice. Ensure you have our Fast Facts sheet to hand so people appreciate the great cause they are donating to.
